To visit or to be visited?

Wanted to throw something out there for discussion. Do you prefer visiting friends or relatives with your family or have guests over at your home? As for my family, we prefer visiting people ourselves if it's only for a few hours or a day. Since I stay home a lot, I really like to go out for a change. BUT if it's for several days, then we definitely prefer having guests stay at our place. First of all, we hate packing! Second, we don't usually like to spend the night at someone else's house. We never sleep well. Peter's schedule gets disrupted, and there is no place better than home as far as comfort goes...since we have a routine, everything's in place, everything's figured out.

What about you?

I was thinking along those same lines yesterday.:-D I prefer visiting other people, too. We're having Thanksgiving tonight and I'm doing most of the cooking...but we're actually having the meal at my in-laws. That's the way I like things. I'll cook, I'll help serve...but I'd rather do it at someone else's house rather than my own. Having people stay here overnight isn't an option since we only have one bedroom so we haven't really run into that. But yeah, I was thinking, "Does this mean I need to work on my hospitality skills if I don't really like having people over?:-/"...

Well...I like it both ways. I love visiting new places and having new experiences. I love 'coming home' or being with family at their places.

But I really really like entertaining in our home too. I love hospitality, and usually there's not a week that goes by without guests in our home, planned or spontaneously.

Both! :)

WE prefer to be visited - we have a dog who we can't just abandon and until recently she was persona non grata at my parents' house so long, all day holiday visits meant she either stayed home alone or sat in the car all day. I think Dad now allows her in the kitchen of their house and Mum allows her anywhere downstairs so that's better.
